Some people shouldn't be allowed on facebook. I mean i suppose everyone is entitled to keep in contact with their friends and family, but some should just shut the fuck up. The worst of these are the people who seem to have an incomplete grasp of written language. I seriously came across a guy who insisted on using 'lool' as an expression of enjoyment.

-___-
in alberta expect the unexcpected lool

-_____-lool if only we were rich :(

-_____-
lool i love ur thinkin lool ;)

-_____-
lool totally agree that y we make a pact to share our winning from the lottery when it happens lool we will be rich and happy :)

-MOPEY-
THERE IS NO REGGIE ONLY LOOOOOL!!

See, this is the kind of thing i'm talking about. Like seriously, what the hell?!
I mean i dislike 'lol'. hbt what the fuck is 'lool'? Well for a while i'm gonna do some posts on the ridiculousness of the slightly retarded people on facebook.

High School's Over

Now that i have been out of high school for over a year, i feel that i have earned a strange sort of perspective on the relationships i formed there. Of all the people i knew, i still see only like five, and i don't talk to many more than ten. Its weird because in high school, you assume you will keep your friends forever.

Its weird because i haven't kept any and i don't feel bad at all.

I wonder if it makes me a bad person that i don't feel bad.

I wonder if things could have gone differently, or if this is just the way things have to go. I mean i honestly have no reason to feel bad about not seeing a lot of the people, i mean they weren't really all that likable. Its not as if i don't have any regrets regarding these people, i genuinely miss a few of them. Then i think, would they fit in with the me i am now? would we even have anything to say to one another? i mean we'd catch up, but would there be any more? or would it just be weird?

After considering my situation, i think of how other people i know have faired regarding this. I think about the good and the bad, and i don't see nearly enough good. I imagine the couples i can think of that graduated together: exactly one still exists, but i don't think it could really be any other way. I contemplate how friendships of other people have had. The ones that kept the friends from high school don't have the same friendships they did in school, and the ones they kept were not always healthy.

In foil to these unhealthy relationships, i have been lucky enough to keep good friends from high school. Not all of them, but a few.

Its weird to think about, and a little saddening.

One of my best friends from high school i don't speak to anymore. I'm not sure why, not sure at all. There could be a lot of reasons we drifted apart. But when i look back on it, and i mean honestly look back on it, without nostalgia, i could have seen it coming.

Why are these posts so serious?
Fuck

State of My Blog

So, i've had a blog a while, and, with the perspective of time, i have decided to shake things up. When looking back at my blog, i find flaws in it, things i dislike, things i find incongruent with my current state of mind. But, instead of doing the logical thing and deleting them and starting over, i have chosen to stay true to the meaning of the word and keep it a 'web log'. See, sleepless nights and swordfights, is a log of things i'm thinking about (as unsettling as that is), and i'd like to keep it. Even if i disagree with my posts, i intend to keep them.

huh--thats not a very interesting post, kinda boring, but i felt like writing it.

I like American Music, baby

baffling...just baffling

SO..I stumbled upon this page that had a fairytale generator, you select factors, and i t generates you a fairytale www.brown.edu/Courses/FR0133/Fairytale_Generator/gen.html/

this is what came out...

I could not stay like I promised, so I took father's satchel hidden underneath his bed and followed the smell of him. If I could not smell anger, I could at least smell my father, wandering the valley bloodthirsty and violent. In the search for my father, I found someone else. Another man, smelling for something angry, with only one eye and a tangling beard. He was distinctly foreign. I gave him my satchel and shoes as he asked me, then I shed my clothes as he advised me to do. "Wear this," he said, and he shed his own skin. It fell off in a pile on the soil floor looking like a tablecloth used in my home. When I clothed myself in his skin I no longer smelled like my home or the valley. Instead I became like the men on the mountain. I smelled distinctly foreign. I thanked the man and watched as he dressed himself in my own clothes. He said he would wear them until new skin grew on his back. Under my feet I felt the rhythm of aches and sighs breathe with each step I took. I felt like I was walking on quicksand. And indeed, when I tried to move my feet I could not feel my toes but only the inability to move them on the surface of palpable danger. When I turned to ask for his help he only laughed. Then I began to think it was he who was making my feet turn to stone. The fairy placed a single seed in my palm which I immediately planted and tended to for months. For days, I watered the seed, showered it with words of encouragement as it grew into a young sprout, and gave it proper space and care as it blossomed fully into a magnificent red rose that granted any wish that I whispered lovingly into its soft petals. "This man," he pointed at me, "this man killed our father. See the blood on his shirt Mother? See it? The smell is like one of our own." My family pressed their hands on various swells of my body as they embraced me with joy. The needle from my tongue flung towards the lying man and struck him in the heart. It gave him poison at the place where it would hurt the most, and soon the man became a limp purple figure of stone.

Its funny that my name on here is mopey. My writing style is far from mopey. its not mopey at all really. I like how i got the name though. When i was twelve i didn't own and xbox, but my friend did, so when i played it was always under randomly generated name. One day it gave me the name mopey and i was told it fit, which it very well may have at the time. But the name stuck and i use it any time i need a name. Its also funny that this whole post has been a digression. No real point, no real focus on grammar, i mean c'mon fuck grammar, i do that enough at school.

Inspired by a friend, i think i'm gonna post a lot more often. Its not gonna make sense, so bear with me on this one.

Do you like american music?

DID YOU KNOW THAT THERE ARE MOTHERFUCKING SWINE FLU ZOMBIES?????????

yeah, there are, its true, it totally read it on bbc.com. its not like i read this on the onion site, or cracked; i actually read it on a reputable news site. It didn't even come from a questionable news source like those partisan jackasses at fox, but it came from the GODDAMN BBC!! and i trust the bbc. Sorry about my over excited tone up there, it may be a little nonsensical, but i was really freaked out. I'm especially worried because my roommate has been kinda sick lately, and if it is swine flu, i will have to kill him once he rises from the dead. he may soon be the zombie that needs chopping. heres the
article i read.

its is NOT REAL

the problem with this is that hoaxes numb people to the looming threat of a real zombie apocalypse. when the real zombies rise ppl will think it just a hoax and humanity will be overrun by the living dead. hoaxes are bad.....a scary...

a very paranoid and zombie-fearing

This Is What I Wanna Do..

Below is the best urban dictionary post ever, this is the kind i want to come up with:

2.
skub-

-Skub (n. v. adj. adv. pn.) - A political notion, idea, person, object, building, desire, sin, mythical creature, medication, lotion, governmental upheaval and/or reformation, action, description, or any combination or invention therein created and manipulated to inspire intense feelings towards no particular incarnation and, by proximity, others with opposing feelings.

Anti-Skub: "Skub is made from the tears of newborn puppies and kittens!" Pro-Skub: "Skub increases life expectancy and makes you more attractive to women!" Anti-Skub: "Skub is proven to cause erectile dysfunction in 80% of cases!"

Pixie Drink and Punk Rock

So, i totally went to see the rockstar energy drink taste of chaos tour last night, and apparently i am much more susceptible to marketing than i had thought, because i now inexplicably love rockstar. Weird, i know. But my weird new craving is not what i'm gonna write about today. Inspired by professor Barnum's scintillating rant about last nights Hey Rossetta! show (which i am kind disappointed i had to miss to see one of my favorite bands ever, Four Year Strong) i think i'm going to write a review of the concert i saw last night. So last night i saw the Taste of Chaos tour, on the bill were Edmonton locals Somastate, Pierce the Veil, The Cancer Bats, Four Year Strong (fuck yeah!), Bring Me The Horizon, and Thursday. All the bands were pretty heavy punk bands and none of them disappointed in the performance area, in fact they all put on a really good show. The music wasn't all my style, i found Pierce the Veil to be far too 'cock-rocky' for my tastes, their music and attitude was to modern punk what Poison is to metal. That aside i found that their performance was extraordinary, they were so entertaining that i actually enjoyed it despite a general distaste for their fairly generic brand of music. The Cancer Bats put on a good show and were as good as i expected, their syle isn't really for me, but it was good nonetheless. Somastate, though i only caught their last couple of songs was also good, it pretty much par for a local band. Bring Me The Horizon put a lot of energy into their performance, but i found their metalcore stylings to be uninspiring, it was pretty much just loud and powerful, not a lot of nuance or melody. In addition to this their screamer (because i really can't call him a singer) couldn't sing. My favorite portions of BMTH's set was actually when the very melodic (and very high-pitched) singer from Pierce the Veil joined them on stage, his skilled singing was given a backdrop with balls, and BMTH gained some much needed dynamics. I have saved my favorite two acts for last, Thursday and Four Year Strong. Thursday have been around for quite a while, they have a deep catalogue of albums and a lot of good songs, that said, i don't really like their albums that much, they're good but not really great. However, when they step onstage and play those "just ok" songs live, the songs take on a life of their own, they are heavier and the energy behind them is really projected into the crowd, this was my second time seeing them live and i really have nothing bad about them to say. And now, the best act, which i have saved for last: Four Year Strong. FYS is a sub-genre defying punk band from Massachusetts, they combine hardcore guitars, melodic singing, heavy dynamics, and synthesizers. They put on an awesome show, they engaged the crowd and inspired what passed for moshing (i'll get to that in a bit) and were my fave of the night, the only problem being the set was too short. That said they have been one of my favorite songs ever since i heard their track 'Bada Bing Wit' a Pipe' on last years Warped Tour compilation, so i may have seen their entire performance through rose-colored glasses (and that said, i don't give a fuck lol). Aside from the bands there are a lot of other stuff that goes into a concert. First, at this show i found the crowd to be lacking, there weren't a lot of seasoned music fans, but a bunch of little SWEB kids that were a concert mainly because its 'cool'. My thoughts towards them consisted mostly of " *sigh*, you don't know how to do anything". Another problem was a percentage greater than half broke the golden rule of concert going as stated by Jeremy Piven in PCU and devoutly followed by me: never, that is NEVER wear the shirt of the band you are going to see, the exception being if you by some freak circumstance you have no other shirt. Really if you break the golden rule, you look like a fanboy douchenugget (what a great word). Mostly they were just bad a being a crowd though, they moshed for like fifteen seconds then stopped, and the cruelest moshers were not the big shirtless guys, but the little SWEB girls who relentlessly pummel the ribs. The venue was good, i really have no complaints about the Edmonton event centre, its a really good venue. My only real complaint about the venue is with the sponsors of the tour, who, taking advantage of my extreme thirst got me hooked on their addictive purple pixie drink, which i am even now drinking...PIXIE DRINK 4 EVR!!!!!

What the balls david lynch?!?!!?!

I just watched
inland empire and aside from being completely horrifying, it also made absolutely no sense. It was like laura dern was trapped in the twisted mind of david lynch and couldn't get out, and is eventually driven mad by the unbridled terror within. It was like david lynch made the entire film with the intention afterward of shouting at the audience: "good luck sleeping tonight, i know i will, having successfully mind-raped you". Now if you'll excuse me i need to go weep silently while taking a cold shower with my clothes on.

bill o'reilly, sex, twitter, kiwis

Jesus, its been a long ass time since i've written on here, like so long, its weird. it was nice that ppl asked about it though, made me want to write on it. know whats awesome? flight of the conchords, it would be so awesome to be from new zealand. kiwis have such a cool accent. also, the los campesinos, they just make me happy. i can't believe how long its been since i last posted on here. oooh, i now have twitter, and at first i thought it was stupid and pointless, but now i realize that while it is totally pointless and kinda stupid, its also totally awesome! i mean, i found audio clips someone had posted that were bill o'reilly reading sex scenes and other excerpts from a book he wrote. sex scenes from a guy who spends all his time shouting about morality on fox!! its awesome and hilarious in a completely and abjectly terrifiying way.

showing inconsisant disdain for both grammar
and correct, complete numbering fairly consistantly

*sigh* No, i don't know what it means either.

EMO

a word which at present has the most confused and convoluted meanings and connotations out there today. oftentimes it is used as a derogatory term. i feel this is wrong. the word has been stolen. that said, i will say that i consider myself to be
emo. just now a bunch of ppl reading made a weird face in reaction to that. see, but when they here emo they think of a whiny, weepy, bitchy, self-absorbed guy in eye-liner. i am none of these (this is of course open to criticism as it is an opinion, but this is my blog so there) no i am more of a 'rivers-cuomo-circa-the-pinkerton-years' emo. mostly this just means emotionally honest and sensitive, most likely self deprecating (as the emotional self honesty often takes bravado out at the knees). to understand how we got the point where mexican kids get killed over being 'emo' we need to look at some brief history. the term emo is derived from emocore, a type of overtly emotional hardcore punk that developed in the washington D.C. are in the late eighties. as we are human we shorten things (i'm not calling this a web log after all) and emocore became simply emo and was typified by a indie sounding punk bands with so me pop sensibilities (think death cab or pinkerton era weezer or sunny day real estate or saves the day). along side this music in the nineties another punk offshoot was developing and becoming ultra popular: pop-punk (*shudder*...kinda). it seems strangely inevitable that this assimilationist form of punk would adopt the emotional honesty of these bands (now commonly called indie-emo). born from this freaky-crying-afterwards union were bands like fall out bot and taking back sunday. that is a very simplified account and shouldn't be taken as gospel. but now that my music-geekishness has gotten behind us...i seem to have nothing to say. oh, right. this music was picked up much the same way as mainstream hip-hop...the dreaded sub-urban white kid. now, where hip-hop posers can be shrugged off easily (as the experiences referenced in the music are fairly specific) the suburban white emo bitch (SWEB) can not be so easily disposed of and ridiculed. the experiences referenced within emo music are fairly universal: girls..um...sadness...meaner girls..? i dunno. anyway. the kids that picked up on this relatively upbeat music happened to be weepy and bitchy, SWEBs. goddamn SWEBs. and they took music i like, and clothes i like and filthied them up with their SWEBiness. converse + skinnies = awesome (also deceptively comfy). I mean i can't blame people for wnating that, plus the music, even the super poppy stuff is pretty good. i suppose what i am trying say (in no small part due to zombieChop's thoughts on this post) is that not all the ppl that enjoy converse, skinnies and upbeat emotional music are SWEBs. Any adherent to any cultural movement is easily ridiculed with a little thought and creativity. I mean hip-hop culture is downright funny, clothes that don't fit, improper pronunciation F-U-N-N-Y. Hipsters: they move around (culturally) afraid to not be in on the newest thing and deathly afraid the things they like will become popular(even though the artists creating these things wopuld probably love that, irony). Metalheads- "hey dudes, lets grow our hair to a length that is longer than is fashionable, wear black, and look grumpy, now that is how you look BADASS!) But all of this is and oversimplification, a stereotype, and really fun to mock. Stereotypes exist mostly for entertainment value, (that is totally not racist to say). These should stereotypes shouldn't be applied to everyone in the sub-culture they..er..stereotype, that leads to trouble, MEXICO. What an abrupt stop. how about that.

showing inconsistent disdain for proper capitalization fairly consistently

What the hell personal blogs?

Have you noticed that like half the blogs that exist in the vast, mad-max-ish expanse that is the internet are overly and overtly personal? why? anonymity, obviously. Now don't take this as some pseudo-intellectual bullshit, it not, at least not intentionally. The thing about the anonymity that spurs some to reveal too much is that it can also be used to entertain. who? who gives a damn. writing this entertains me, hopefully the reader. now some will inevitably argue that this anonymity is absent in those who use their real name, but none of this overly personal information is revealed in person, you don't see the look in someones eyes when they hear what you say, you don't have to deal with their responses, you can wait and mete out retaliation accordingly. again, this isn't saying i'm against putting a little 'you' into what you write, just do it creatively...covertly, like a ninja. now...valentines day...ugh. Valentines Day: or, the commercialized cash grab that exploits romance every fucking year. You obviously can't celebrate your feeling on any other day with anything but a [insert product here]. Fuck off.
I mean,
celebrating the l-word (not lesbian) should happen everyday. Really. in fact, i think next year i'm just going to commemorate st. valentine two calendar days earlier and later than i'm "supposed to". And i'll even *gasp* do it without material gifts (maybe flowers, but i mean, who doesn't love to get flowers) maybe i'll write a poem or a song, or cook dinner. As you may have noticed i just figured out how to italicize things. Also i like zombieChops idea of signing off...(out?).

How Tokyo Police Club Saved The World

It is now 2009 and the robopocalypse has not yet come to pass. This is a good thing. I for one credit the humble indie heroes of the tokyo police club. I also disdain capitalization, apparently (unless it begins a sentence, as lack thereof usually leads to things looking disjointed). But i digress. Way back in 2006 the aforementioned indie heroes predicted the coming of the robopocalypse in the song 'Citizens of Tomorrow'. Huh, turns out my disdain for capitalization is fairly inconsistent. In said song they predicted that we would be under the domination of shiny metallic overlords by the year 2009. But (i suspect) due to their three year forewarning, and their super-canadian-indie-rock-laser-vision powers, the robo-coup has been thwarted. In an epic battle of sheer unbridled awesomeness aided by Ash (from Army O' Darkness) and ironically enough Robo-Cop, they defeated the mighty forces of robot-dom. Yeah.

Tits and violence, or as i shall henceforth say, tits-violence; is it all we really want? I mean everyone loves tits...epic boobs are proof of that, and history has shown that mankind loves violence more than anything....hmmm....not quite sure where i was going with that, i guess all anyone really wants is tits-violence. Damn, only go to say it once. TITS-VIOLENCE!! (twice)

Why Manscape?

Why when i sit to write can i never think of anything worthy to write about? When i'm sitting around doing nothing i have a thousand ideas that i should write about, but when i want to, nothing. Honestly, the best i can think of how damn awesome bruce campbell is, like seriously, hes awesome. Groovy. Also, Jagermeister, while delicious leads to badness. This is relevant. I swear. One of the weirdest things you notice from watching movies from the not so distant past is that the boobs are different, not just that there are more real ones, they're just....different. That, and you notice that the men are a lot hairier. Now its not that the people are any different, or that there has been a subtle evolutionary shift towards hairlessness; no, its shaving. My main query is why? Why do men feel the need to remove the hair from their body, why manscape?
Most answers i get are that hairlessness is awesome and that women think hair is gross, but these are both subjective. Logically these should both hold true in the past but somehow do not, its not like theres been a great leap forward in hair removal technology, its pretty much the same. As you can most likely tell i am a hairy dude, and as such i have somewhat of a bias. Many people tell me that i should remove my copious amounts of body hair, but i steadfastly refuse to until someone can give me an objective reason to do it. Besides, Bruce Campbell is a hairy dude, and hes awesome.

even though blogging is kinda lame, i made one anyway, just for kicks

i think the title pretty much states the purpose of this entry, hopefully next time i have something to say

and thanks goes out to jon, for the bitchin title
